THE COMA CLUSTER OF GALAXIES, I: SIZE AND STRUCTURE

Three independent counts of the Coma cluster of galaxies are intercompared. The three different surveys appear to be consistent with each other. It is concluded that this cluster contains some 800 members to photovisual magnitude about 18.5 and is about 100 minutes in radius. A possible spatial dens...

description Three independent counts of the Coma cluster of galaxies are intercompared. The three different surveys appear to be consistent with each other. It is concluded that this cluster contains some 800 members to photovisual magnitude about 18.5 and is about 100 minutes in radius. A possible spatial density distribution of the galaxies in this cluster is derived from the combined data. (Author) Prepared for submission to the Astronomical Journal.
