Zusammenfassung: | A manufacturing process has been developed for producing high strength aluminum and magnesium alloy cast parts. The founding characteristics of magnesium alloys ZQ64, ZQ71 and ZQ91, and aluminum alloys KO1, ST60 and M710 were investigated. Testing included mechanical property, fatigue, shear and charpy impact tests. Average room temperature tensile properties obtained in coupons cut from F-5 nose landing gear strut cylinder castings are: ZQ64 magnesium alloy: 49,199 Ftu, 32, 590 Fty and 8.4% elongation; KO1 aluminum alloy: 64,507 Ftu, 53,142 Fty and 13.4% elongation.
