Zusammenfassung:The first vision in the biblical book of Ezekiel, known as the Vision of the Lord's chariot, is a model of the visionary genre. It is at the same time an experience of ecstasy before God, an essential source for the great Vision in the book of Revelation, a fantastic scene with complex and elusive motifs. It has inspired important medieval commentaries, especially that of Gregory the Great, which the Biblical Glosses largely copied. How can be depicted through images this kind of interlacing, which primarily concerns the biblical text and its exegetical commentaries? We have selected a small corpus of representations of the chariot of Yahweh, taken between the 12th and 15th centuries, and we will examine the iconographical and intellectual practices associated with them.
