Ophthalmic Needle Types and Suture Materials

Needle types and suture materials are basic subjects which every surgeon dealing with ophthalmic surgery should know. Tissue-compatible needle and suture selection as well as careful surgery will have doubtlessly a positive effect on the success. The purpose of this manuscript is to provide a detailed review of needle types and suture materials, as well as of the current developments, and also to make recommendations to the ophthalmic surgeons about appropriate choices of suture and needles.
