Zusammenfassung:Background & Objective: Patients with diabetes have impaired beta cells function and insulin secretion. Exercise training may have a significant role in the improvement of these disorders through the expression of the specific genes. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the effects of eight weeks of moderate-intensity continuous and resistance training on the glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta (GSK-3β) gene expression, and serum glucose and insulin levels in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats Materials & Methods: 24 rats were divided into four groups: healthy control, diabetic control, diabetic + moderate-intensity continuous training, and diabetic + moderate-intensity resistance training. Diabetes was induced by intravenous injection of 110 mg nicotinamide, and 40 mg streptozotocin per kg of body weight. Exercise training intervention was performed for eight weeks. Expression of GSK-3β gene in pancreatic tissue was measured by real-time PCR, and serum glucose and insulin levels were measured by ELISA. Data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance.
