Zusammenfassung: | Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors (IMT) are rare benign soft tissue tumors that frequently present in the lungs, omentum and mesentery with only 15% head & neck involvement.
The objective of this study is to report a rare aggressive pattern of laryngeal IMT, that despite its benign nature behaves as a malignant tumor.
A 56-year-old male patient presented with persistent dysphonia and dyspnea found to have aggressive IMT requiring several surgeries and eventually total laryngectomy.
Laryngeal IMT should be treated as a locally invading tumor and initial complete surgical resection is of utmost importance for disease control. |
