Archaeological Circle of Mari State University

The article presents the history of the archaeological circle of the Mari State University, organized by the author in September 1973 at the Faculty of History and Philology. In 1974, the Archaeological Expedition of the Mari State University was organized and the members of the circle from that time became participants in the excavations. In 1975, thanks to the active work of the circle, the Archaeological Museum was opened for visits. From the first years, active organizational and research work was carried out. In their senior years, students purposefully began to study statistical methods in archaeological research. With enthusiasm they prepared reports for university, regional Ural-Volga and all-Union student scientific conferences, fulfilled scientific papers for publication. Many reports and publications have been awarded.
