Percepción y actitudes del residente acerca del impacto del turismo en la Isla de Santiago (Cabo Verde)

This paper analyzes the attitude of the residents of the island of Santiago (Cape Verde), with regard to tourism, with special emphasis on the perception of the impacts that could have for the community and personally, and at the same time their influence to contribute to higher levels of development. The development of tourism in a particular area, requires the interaction of a series of agents, in this context, there is no doubt that the residents may not be excluded from the processes of tourism planning, hence the importance of knowing their perceptions and expectations. The main results show that the residents of Santiago see in the tourism a hope of future that can allow them a major general well-being(comfort). En este trabajo se analiza la actitud de los residentes de la isla de Santiago (Cabo Verde), con respecto al turismo, con especial énfasis en la percepción de los impactos que podría tener para la comunidad y personalmente, y al mismo tiempo su influencia para contribuir hacia mayores niveles de desarrollo. El desarrollo turístico de una determinada zona, requiere de la interacción de una serie de agentes, en este marco no hay duda que los residentes no pueden quedar al margen de los procesos de planificación turística, de ahí la importancia de conocer sus percepciones y expectativas. Los principales resultados muestran que los residentes de Santiago ven en el turismo una esperanza de futuro que les puede permitir un mayor bienestar general.
