Zusammenfassung: | Introduction and objectives. Cardiac transplantation offers a significant increase in the vital prognosis while producing a substantial
improvement in the quality of life. The main objective is to know the degree of satisfaction of heart transplanted patients and of their
main caregivers with regard to the information provided in an individualized education program conducted by nurses.
Material and methods. Cross-sectional, analytical, observational study. Twenty patients who required Cardiac Transplant surgery
during admission and 16 main caregivers of said patients were consecutively included.
Results. Regarding the degree of satisfaction of heart transplanted patients and of their main caregivers relating to the information
provided in an individualized education program conducted by nurses, the scores obtained in the different surveys indicate a degree
of satisfaction of quite satisfied (52.6% and 53.3%, respectively) and very satisfied (21% and 20%, respectively). There are no significant
differences (p = 0.22) between patients‘ and caregivers‘ degree of satisfaction. Female sex gives, in general, a better evaluation, there
significantly outstanding the time devoted by the nursing staff to education (p = 0.007) and the satisfaction with the education provided
(p = 0.001).
Conclusions. The satisfaction results from both patients and caregivers are very favorable. However, we must continue working
on improving the quality of, and the time devoted to, the education we provide to our patients and main caregivers following heart
transplantation. Furthermore, we must stress those aspects of the written support that patients and caregivers report us that could
be improved.
