Figure 3: Exhaustive extraction

Boxplot representation summarizing the distribution of the relative abundance of annotated lipids to identify differences in the extraction efficiency across the two exhaustive extractions. The first exhaustive extraction employed a one-phase extraction (MeCN/H2O, 2/8, v/v, EE1) followed by two Folch extraction protocols (CHCl3/MeOH/H2O, 8/4/3, v/v/v, EE2 and EE3). For exhaustive extraction 2, a Folch extraction method (FE1) was used, followed by a one-phase extraction (ethyl acetate, FE2) and a final Folch extraction (FE3) to extract lipids. The median intensity of the replicates represented the lipid amount extracted from each individual extraction, while the summation of the median intensities from all three extractions was adopted to represent the total amount of extracted lipids ((median, n = 9)*100/total (∑intensity = extract 1 + extract 2 + extract 3))
