Here we extracted DNA from the footpad of a museum specimen collected collected nearly 70 years ago. Due to the natural degradation of the DNA it was not possible to make de novo assembly of the genome so the reads were mapped to the genome assembly of a closely related species, Ptiloris paradiseus. The map reads provide 16721 coding gene sequences, and BUSCO analysis demonstrates a coverage of 94.8%. |
