description | One of the methods used by CEUCI (Center for Studies on Knowledge and Innovation-Based Urban Development) is the case study of technology parks, innovation hubs and knowledge production districts in general, in Brazil and abroad. These studies are developed through monitoring and participatory observation (as in the case of the International Hub for Sustainable Development - HIDS), field visits, undergraduate and postgraduate courses, workshops and undergraduate, master's and doctoral studies.
The mapping studied by the research team Silvia Stuchi, Denis Alves, Bruno Liza, supervised by Prof. Dr. Milena Serafim, has the general goal of identifying science and technology parks in contexts similar to Brazil.
Its specific objectives are to map, analyze and classify STPs in peripheral and semi-peripheral countries, providing a basis for research on the various CEUCI fronts.
The mapping methodology is detailed below:
Research into the cases in this layer is based on the following databases: Anprotec , GIID , IASP , Inova data
The initial selection criteria were location in Latin America, the Caribbean and Mexico, countries with a democratic political regime, peripheral or semi-peripheral
In particular, this stage focused on identifying the existence (or not) of university integration in governance formally and potentially (existence of nearby universities).
The mapping is constantly being updated and other cases will be added as the group's research evolves. |
