description This meta-data document contains data relating to randomised controlled trials where non-exercise intervention groups were compared against exercise intervention groups (not receiving any additional supplemental intervention). All data were collected as part of a systematic review and meta-analysis and was registered with Open Science Framework (https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/EH94V). Data included in this document consists of demographic information, muscle strength from the chest and quadriceps musculature in conjunction with the method of strength assessment and specific exercise assessed. Lastly, resistance training intervention data which includes the following training variables; sets, repetitions, number of exercises, intensity (% 1-repetition-maximum), frequency, and duration, were included in this document. References for each of the included studies can be found on the third workbook titled 'References'.
