A Rare Case of High Takeoff of the Right Coronary Artery from the Ascending Aorta

High takeoff of the coronary artery is an extremely rare anomaly and is associated with sudden cardiac death. We herein report an 81-year-old woman with chest pain found to have a right coronary artery originating from the ascending aorta. An accurate preoperative evaluation using coronary computed tomography and aggressive reconstructive surgery resulted in successful outcomes without complications over a two-year postoperative period.
