Zusammenfassung:In this paper, a detecting method of airation and cavitation phenomena in an opaque liquid is proposed by using supersonic waves. Under the unsteady condition of flow with various time ratios of pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of two kinds of contractions (orifice plate and cylindrical short choke), the airation and cavitation characteristics of O/W emulsion, surfactant-water solution and pure water were measured by detecting the change in the intensity of supersonic waves irradiated through the outlet flow of contaction. The results obtained clarified th a t the airation and cavitation of 0/W. emulsion and surfactantwater solution are apt to occur more frequently with an increase in the surfactant content; and consequently, the surfactant has a remarkable effect on the airation and cavitation characteristics of 0/W emulsion.
