description Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith, 1797) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is a significant pest in maize and rice crops in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. This study aimed to evaluate the biological parameters of this species on a modified Greene artificial diet through laboratory bioassays. A total of 100 larvae were observed individually, assessing the duration and viability of each life stage, the weight of the pupae (at 24 hours), the sex ratio, and the duration of the pre-oviposition, oviposition, and post-oviposition periods. Additionally, the longevity of the adults and their daily and total fecundity were analyzed. For adult emergence, 15 pairs were kept in PVC cages. Furthermore, life table parameters such as generation time (T), net reproduction rate (Ro), intrinsic rate of increase (rm), and finite rate of growth (λ) were determined.
