description The Brazilian territory has a significant and diversified geoheritage, but there is still a lack of knowledge about it, especially in areas far from metropolitan regions, where most of the research is concentrated. In this work, elements of great significance of the geodiversity in the north of the state of Tocantins and southwest of Maranhão are approached. The region is located on the Brazilian agricultural frontier, a fact that makes it important to know its physical-natural diversity and to provide an overview of the importance that some portions of the area have for conservation and sustainable development. In the region, there are significant sites composed of fossils, waterfalls and geoforms that, according to a theoretical review of the themes addressed and the field work, are important for carrying out scientific, didactic and geotouristic activities.
