The 24-h color scores were, however, normal in muscles from both kinds of animals. Daily heart rate and respiration changes indicated more rapid adaptation to environmental changes in the Chester White animals. Partial pressures of blood O 2 and CO 2 were not significantly different between the two groups of animals and varied with environmental changes as expected.
