Lexico-Semantic Features of the Albanian Language in Written and Online Media

In this study, the impact of print media on the development and transformation of the Albanian language's lexicon and semantics will be investigated. Focusing on several issues of the local newspaper "Boulevard" from the city of Durrës, Albania, this paper analyzes the role that this newspaper and its sections have played in enriching the Albanian vocabulary and the semantic changes of its words. Through the analysis of various articles and materials published in this newspaper, the study identifies the introduction of new words, the influence of borrowings, and the evolution of the meanings of traditional words in different social and political contexts. Additionally, the effects of technology and digital media on the transformation of the lexicon and semantics are explored. The results of this study demonstrate that this widely read print media in the city and beyond plays a significant and ongoing role in preserving and enriching the Albanian language, reflecting, and shaping the cultural and social dynamics of the time.
