Determining the Pseudo-Stark Coefficient in Y2SiO5:Er3+ from the Photon Echo Oscillations and Beats upon a 4F9/2–4I15/2 Transition

The pseudo-Stark shift in the optical frequency of the 4 F 9/2 – 4 I 15/2 transition of an Er 3+ ion in a Y 2 SiO 5 matrix under the action of a weak pulsed electric field is measured from changes in the amplitude and temporal shape of the photon echo.
