Acoustics of a counter-rotating shrouded propfan - Prediction and data

The acoustic characteristics of a counter-rotating integrated shrouded propfan were studied theoretically and experimentally. It was discovered that far-field noise can be reduced by increasing the axial distance between the rotors.
