description This paper describes a method of reconstructing a polyhedron from orthographic views. First, a wire frame model is created. This is achieved by referring to the corresponding relationship among three orthographic views. Then a surface model is generated by making loops out of coplanar edges. Such a surface model consists of ghost figures. This paper deals with the ghost figure eliminating procedure as determination of flags, flags referring to nodes in the constraint relationship network. The flag of each node in this network represent true, false or undecided. With this approach, many rules in consistency checking and local value propagation are systematically organized, and the consistency managing procedure is completely isolated from the search procedure. As a result, the systematic rules can be adopted at any time in the search process when needed. The method implemented in this paper shows the way to use consistency checking and local value propagation effectively.
