description | We administered long-term maintenance care for 4-6 years in a 14-year-old and a 20-year-old female with early-onset periodontitis. Case 1, which involved a 14-year-old. female with moderate alveolar bone resorption following non-surgical treatment, resulted in resolution of the clinical periodontal condition. In addition we found that angular bony defects were refilled and moreover bone regeneration had occurred horizontally. After 4 years, she was found to have obtained an almost normal levels of bone. Case 2 involved a 20-year-old female with advanced bone destruction, following surgical treatment. The bone was found to have been refilled in angular bony defects 6 months after treatment and the bone levels was found further enhanced at the year 6 examination. Following treatment in an identical manner to trat of adult periodontitis, these 2 cases resulted in resolution of the clinical periodontal conditions and we observed that in both the bone levels was enhanced. The healing tendencies were similar to that of adult periodontitis. Following long-term maintenance, the supporting tissue was observed to have regenerated steadily. |
