Zusammenfassung: | A nine year old boy with idiopathic gingival fibromatosis is reported. He has a familial history of enlarged gingivae through three generations. General physical examination did not reveal any abnomality. Gingivectomy including gingivoplasty of the entire maxilla and mandibula was performed in six stages for the patient's cosmetic demand and the trearment of four first molars with deep occlusal caries. Follwing the operation, no signs of recurrence were noted except the left upper molar region in which gingivae showed signs of growing back to some extent. The effects of the timing and the technique of gingivectomy and oral hygiene maintenance to the recurrence of overgrowth are discussed. |
