Zusammenfassung: | Twenty brown bears (Ursus arctos) radio-tracked on Admiralty Island in southeast Alaska for 2-13 months were not uniformly distributed during summer in lower-elevation tidal and riparian habitats. These findings differ from the assumption of uniform summer distribution. Our data suggest that a segment of the population remains in upper-elevation interior regions and does not use anadromous salmon (Onchorynchus spp.) streams during the summer. |
