TESTING FOR DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SPANISH MEN AND WOMEN ON GENDER SELF-DEFINITION ASSESSMENT

description This study applied a mean and covariance structure analysis (MACS) to the data from a Spanish university sample to examine the invariance of the factor structure of the Hoffman Gender Scale (HGS) across gender. The findings indicated that the hypothesized second-order model structure of the HGS was a reasonable representation of the data for males and females. Invariance testing was performed for men and women and revealed non-invariance for the items and subscales of the HGS. Women had significantly higher means on the two latent factors compared with men. The internal consistency estimates were satisfactory for all groups.
