Zusammenfassung:This study conducted a smell test to verify the extent to which pseudo fecal odors gener-ated from the interior of a toilet can be minimized by placing air fresheners/deodorizers in residential bathrooms assuming the actual use environment. Verification targeted consumers and was carried out using the “9 steps indication method of odor hedonics” and “evaluation of acceptability.” As a result, it was confirmed that placing air fresheners/deodorizers can improve the pseudo fecal odor hedonics and non-acceptance rate.Further, when compared with air fresheners/deodorizers of different aromas, there were significant differences in the deodorizing effects. Moreover, as the results of this study showed similar results as those of evaluations according to the effectiveness testing methods for deodorizers based on the voluntary criteria set up by the Air Fresheners & Deodorizers Conference, it is believed that the deodorizing effects of air fresheners/deodorizers in a space assuming the actual use environment were verified.
