THE INTERACTION BETWEEN THE PLACEBO EFFECTS: THE LEADERSHIP EFFECTS

In a 2×3 factorial experiment, subjects were given stimulant suggestion or depressant suggestion with an inactive placebo, and then were engaged in mirror drawing test under the leadership condition of P type, M type or, as control condition, non P-M type. In the condition of depressant suggestion, subjects who had been supervised by P type leadership performed significantly better on the mirror drawing test than did subjects who had been supervised by M type or non P-M type. On the other hand, in the condition of stimulant suggestiop, subjects who had been supervised by M type leadership performed better, but in tendency, than did subjects who had been supervised by P type or non P-M type. It was discussed that when depressant suggetion and P multiplied each other, there would be effects resembling PM situations, and the same depressant suggestion and M multiplied each other, there would be effects resembling M.
