Zusammenfassung:An intramolecular oxidative C–C bond formation reaction of a 1,2-bis(pyren-2-yl)benzene derivative gave benzodinaphthopentaphene, a new polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon. Its expanded π-system induced a bathochromic shift in the absorption spectrum and amphoteric multi redox processes in electrochemistry. Furthermore, the [5]helicene moiety of the molecule induced helical chirality.
