description In order to enhance the integration of radio frequency (RF) components for automotive radar, antenna-in-package (AiP) is a suitable candidate for compact integration with RF integrated circuits. In the proposed AiP, inset shapes are adopted in the tapered radiation patches on the first layer to improve sidelobe-level (SLL) performance. The parasitic strips are configured to be trapezoidal to achieve in-phase current distribution. These trapezoidal strips can further increase radiation gain and suppress SLL. Experimental results are in agreement with simulation data. The measured bandwidth can cover 76 GHz to 81 GHz, with a peak gain of 12.83 dBi and an SLL of 15.15 dB at 77 GHz in the 1 × 6 AiP.
