Zusammenfassung:	The structure of a 1:1 pyrazine-iodine molecular complex has been determined at 203 K and that of a related complex, tetramethylpyrazine-iodine, at 203 and 294 K. Both structures consist of alternating linear chains of diazine and iodine molecules connected through an n-sigma* donor-acceptor interaction. The N...I distances are 2.817 (1) angstrom in the pyrazine-iodine complex, and 3.085 (1) and 3.072 (1) angstrom in the tetramethylpyrazine complex at 203 and 294 K respectively.
