X-ray measurements in the course of laser heating of a glass bubble target

A glass bubble target was irradiated spherically by high-power nanosecond neodymium-laser pulses. The continuous x-ray emission spectrum in the energy range 1 to 8 keV and the x-ray emission lines due to transitions in H-, He-, and Li-like silicon ions were determined simultaneously. Zusammenfassung:A glass bubble target was irradiated spherically by high-power nanosecond neodymium-laser pulses. The continuous x-ray emission spectrum in the energy range 1 to 8 keV and the x-ray emission lines due to transitions in H-, He-, and Li-like silicon ions were determined simultaneously. The time- and space-integrated continuous spectrum was determined by the method of selective filters and the x-ray lines were recorded with a spectrometer which included a flat gypsum crystal. The results of the measurements were used to find the effective electron temperature of the coronal plasma of the target.
