Constrained Geometry Chromium Catalysts for Olefin Polymerization

Chromium(III) alkyls featuring an amido ligand tethered to a permethylcyclopentadienyl ring (i.e. [η5-Me4C5SiMe2-η1-NtBu]CrR) have been prepared and structurally characterized. They catalyze the polymerization of ethylene and the dimerization and isomerization of α-olefins.
