A Novel Nitrogen-Rich Cadmium Coordination Compound Based on 1,5-Diaminotetrazole: Synthesis, Structure Investigation, and Thermal Properties

A new coordination compound [Cd(DAT)6](PA)2·(H2O)4 using 1,5-diaminotetrazole (DAT) as a ligand was synthesized and characterized by applying X-ray single crystal diffraction, elemental analysis, and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The central cadmium(II) cation is coordinated by si...

description A new coordination compound [Cd(DAT)6](PA)2·(H2O)4 using 1,5-diaminotetrazole (DAT) as a ligand was synthesized and characterized by applying X-ray single crystal diffraction, elemental analysis, and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The central cadmium(II) cation is coordinated by six N atoms from six DAT molecules to form a six-coordinated and slightly distorted octahedral configuration. The coordination cation is situated between the two picrate (PA) anions whose benzene-ring planes are parallel to each other. All of the molecular units are linked together by intermolecular hydrogen bonds. The thermal decomposition mechanism of the title compound was investigated through differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric/differential analysis (TG-DTG), and FT-IR analyses. The kinetic parameters of the first exothermic process of this complex were calculated by applying Kissinger’s and Ozawa-Doyle’s methods.
