This should allow material collected previously to be more accurately assigned and assist palaeoecological analysis of the site. In addition to ray-finned fish, cartilaginous fishes were collected together with plants, bivalves, crustaceans, scorpions and horseshoe crabs which have not previously been reported from Glencartholm.
