A Novel Methylenation Method of aldehydes Mediated by Dibutyl Telluride

In the presence of dibutyl telluride, (iodomethyl)triphenylphosphonium iodide (1) reacted with aldehydes 2 in THF at 80°C yielding he methylenation products 3 under neutral conditions in good yields.
