description | Kütahya, which has a strong ceramic tradition, emerges as an important center both historically and economically. It is distinguished from other productions with its remarkable original production of traditional Kütahya tiles, starting from the 14 th century until today. The historical and touristic use of tile art to create an economic resource for a city and a important livelihood for its people is almost identical with Kütahya. Kütahya tile production is based entirely on handicraft. This situation causes this art to be remembered as a very important value both socially, culturally and economically with a unique style with both domestic and foreign connections. Making traditional Kütahya tile pattern and form designs and production in accordance with tradition will ensure that products that can represent Kütahya tiles correctly. In this study, it is aimed to make a detailed research on wood-fired furnaces used in tile firing, which has sunk into oblivion in Kütahya tiles, and to unearth the forgotten values of wood-fired furnaces used in traditional tile production from the past to the present, and to create a technically comprehensive resource. In addition, it is aimed to examine the place and importance of wood-fired furnaces used in traditional Kütahya tile production, as well as the effect of their changes and lost values on Kütahya tiles. |
