description The article examines the century-long history of Polish reception of Imagism. The author focuses on terminological twists, which are conspicuous in the fact that five different names of the movement can be found in Polish critical and academic works, and reconstructs reasons for various misunderstandings in reception. The abundance of names has resulted in the deficit of knowledge – i.e. Imagism has constantly been confused with the Russian Imaginism. One of the questions addressed in the article is the problem of the actual connections between the Anglo-American movement and the Russian one. The author also discusses transcultural similarities between the poetic and metaliterary output of Polish interwar and postwar authors (Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska, Tadeusz Peiper, Stanisław Grochowiak) and the works of Ezra Pound, Amy Lowell, and Richard Aldington.
