description | The study (re)discusses a relatively new way of reading, of interpreting the literary text, be it folklore, oral, or written, “authored” text, recording the differences between literary reading and ethnological one, on the one hand, and anthropological perspective, on the other hand. What matters is the perspective, the anthropological vision, the settlement of the cultural facts (literature, arts, artifacts, tools, ornaments, etc.) in the center of attention and the interpretation of the resulting documents, from the primitive myth to the postmodern novel, from this perspective. All the more so because images, motifs, “structures of the imaginary” (Immaculate Conception, stone birth, death and rebirth/birth again, intra- and extramundan journeys etc.) cross cultures, from the depths of prehistory to the present day. The thesis is supported by the interpretation of a short novel by the writer Vasile Andru, The Groom (1975), which rewrites the theme/motif of the posthumous death as lived by a young town-man who plays the role of the groom in a funeral ceremony performed to a young, unmarried girl, in a village, today. |
