This article deals with the subject of Asperger’s syndrome, and more specifically, it focuses on the description of its most important symptoms and diagnostic criteria. It is also an attempt to compare Asperger’s syndrome with other disorders, including autism, as it is not uncommon for these two different disorders to be perceived as identical. This is because in the current medical classifica- tions, Asperger’s syndrome has been included in the category of autistic disorders. The following publication therefore contains an explanation of the differences in the functioning of people with autism and Asperger’s syndrome, which are associated with the need for a new way of diagnosing and treating people affected by the disorder.
