Zusammenfassung:The paper starts from the following question: to what extent is deliberative media discourse still possible, given that mass media tabloidization and media populism are increasingly widespread phenomena? Based on two types of Romanian tv political debates, the paper concludes that the invasion of marketing and entertainment practices in the realm of tv debates has generated new media identities and interaction frames, involving “the public” in various ways.
